Aawaz NGO Helps Master Upden Singha Schooling After Father’s Accident – Kurseong

Aawaz Social Welfare Organization Steps In: Financial Aid Provided to Master Upden Singha for Schooling After Father’s Road Accident

Kurseong, Darjeeling District – 2026 In yet another act of timely compassion and support for education in the hills, Aawaz Social Welfare Organization has extended monetary assistance to help cover the schooling expenses of young Master Upden Singha, a bright student enrolled at St. Alphonsus Primary School in Kurseong.

Master Upden, a young boy studying in the primary section of the historic St. Alphonsus Primary School (part of the renowned St. Alphonsus educational complex established in 1891), comes from a modest family that has recently faced severe financial hardship. His father, who previously earned a living by operating a private vehicle (taxi or commercial car service common in the Kurseong-Siliguri route), met with a serious road accident that left him unable to work. The accident not only caused physical injuries but also resulted in the complete loss of his job and income source, plunging the family into acute monetary difficulties.

With multiple school-going children in the household, the parents struggled to meet even basic educational expenses – including school fees, uniforms, books, stationery, and transportation costs. Unable to afford these essentials, the family’s dream of providing uninterrupted education to their children was at risk.

The family approached Aawaz Social Welfare Organization seeking help. After a thorough verification of the situation, including details of the accident, medical documents, and school records, the NGO promptly decided to intervene to ensure the boy’s education continues without interruption.

Aawaz provided direct financial support specifically earmarked for Master Upden’s schooling needs. This aid covers upcoming fees, purchase of required textbooks and uniforms, and other incidental expenses for the current academic year. The assistance has relieved immense pressure from the family and allowed the young student to focus on his studies rather than worry about financial barriers.

The parents of Master Upden expressed profound gratitude to Aawaz NGO, stating that this help has come as a lifeline during their darkest hour. “We were worried our son would have to drop out or miss classes. Thanks to Aawaz, he can continue attending St. Alphonsus Primary School regularly and build a brighter future,” they shared emotionally.

This initiative aligns with Aawaz Social Welfare Organization’s core mission of supporting education for underprivileged children in Kurseong subdivision and surrounding areas. Over the years, the NGO has assisted numerous families facing similar crises – from accident victims and job losses to natural calamities – by providing scholarships, fee waivers, study materials, and emergency aid to keep children in school.

Education remains a top priority for Aawaz, as uninterrupted schooling is key to breaking the cycle of poverty in tea garden communities, hill villages, and urban pockets of Darjeeling district. The organization encourages more community members to come forward and support such causes through donations or volunteering.

Master Upden’s story is a reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference in a child’s life. Aawaz continues to stand ready to help more deserving students and families in need across the region.
